Research

Our vision is to maintain international reputation as a chemical engineering department with a strong focus on chemical engineering R&D and scholarship activities in the related sciences. We conduct research programs in three strains;

The Department seeks a prominent place in the profession and several key researchers enjoy their international reputations through both quality and quantity of their research and scholarly outputs including publications, patents, and personal knowledge.

The Department chooses to focus its effort in order to advance research in the key areas of value-added resources and energy processing. The specific research areas of our greatest strength are thermal energy and environmental engineering, process systems engineering, minerals and petroleum processing. These areas are core components in the University's research strategic plan (resources and energy) and are most relevant to the resources-based economy in the State of Western Australia. Indeed, being a core participant in three Cooperative Research Centres, continuously winning significant research support from governments and industries, and possessing the highest RPI points on per EFT staff basis, Chemical Engineering has an indispensable place in the Division of Engineering Science and Computing's research performance.
